Walkers can soon explore a previously private area
of Shropshire and South Staffordshire.
Bradford Estates’ is opening part of its historic woodlands to the public in autumn 2025 with The Bradford Walk, a trail that connects 16km of newly created permissive public paths with existing paths, enhancing connectivity across the area. 350,000 New Trees
Over 350,000 UK grown trees have been planted with eco-friendly tree guards, enhancing wildlife habitats, connecting communities with nature, and significantly increasing woodland cover over the next decade.
Open to Everyone
The trail grants permissive public access to hundreds of acres of previously private woodlands for the community to enjoy and attract visitors.
Connecting Historic Sites
Creating a cohesive network that links pleasure grounds, carriageways and local heritage sites such as Weston Park, Boscobel House and Tong village.
Iconic Landscapes
Granting public access to the estates’ historic designs originally influenced by renowned landscape architect Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown in the 18th century.
Community Engagement
Future plans for the permissive trails include parking facilities, art installations and possibly a playground, establishing a community facility for events and activities.
Working Towards Net Zero
The woodland planting is funded through the English Woodland Creation Offer (EWCO), administered by the Forestry Commission, supporting Bradford Estates’ aim to increase woodland cover and contribute towards the UK’s net zero targets.
