About us

From our offices at Weston-under-Lizard, Bradford Estates manage and steward this important landscape. Since the middle ages, this land has passed down through successive generations of de Weston, Peshale, Mytton, Wilbraham, Newport, and Bridgeman families. Bridgeman is the family name of the current Earl of Bradford and his son, Alexander, Viscount Newport, the Managing Director of Bradford Estates.

The Weston Park Foundation
The principal family home, Weston Park, and its 1,000 acres of Capability Brown landscaped parkland, left family ownership in 1981 following the death of the 6th Earl, being gifted to the nation by his son, the 7th Earl. With funding from the National Heritage Memorial Fund it is now run by the Trustees of the Weston Park Foundation. This is an educational and conservation charity that is completely independent from Bradford Estates. See Weston Park for more details.

A tradition of innovation
The Bradford family has produced a long line of innovators through the generations and has been at the forefront of many ground-breaking initiatives. These include the paving and lighting of the growing town of Bolton, the development of Walsall, including transport, the mining and leather industries, as well as many agricultural innovations on their Estates. This tradition continues to the current day with sustainable land management policies designed to protect and enhance the environment.
